Speech and Language Therapy

Most students with special needs have speech and communication issues. The speech and language therapists address the individual needs of each child by screening, identifying, assessing, diagnosing and providing intervention in the following areas:

  • hearing
  • articulation
  • fluency
  • voice and clarity of speech
  • language and communication challenges

The speech and language therapists also work in collaboration with the teachers and other professionals to develop Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) programmes for the children to enhance their communication abilities. Non-verbal children are taught to express themselves through communication books and assistive technology like ‘Suno Bolo Sunao’ - a voice output-cum-language app developed in-house by the SEN IT team.
