Functional

Functional Academics:

Students who have developmental delays and in some instances are non-verbal, are taught in a specialized small group setting with a 1:6 teacher-student ratio. The focus is on work skills, social skills, self-care, Adolescent Education Programmes (AEP) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) to help them become independent and self-reliant.

Holistic Teaching

A holistic approach is followed by the teachers and it has been found to be the most effective method to facilitate the teaching-learning process. In this method during one activity, many concepts are taught to the children.

Late Evening Camps & Overnight Stays

Self-Care Skills and Independent Living Skills are vital components of the curriculum offered to the students. Children are taught to generalize the skills learnt in the class to other settings and occasions. In order to make learning meaningful and effective for the students, late evening camps / overnight stays are organized.

Parent Involvement Programmes (PIPs)

The SEN Department works very closely with parents and is transparent in its functioning. The request for a PIP in any subject / session / therapy can be initiated by parents / teachers to get / give an understanding of how their child is performing and being taught.

Walk-ins for Parents

Walk-ins are compulsory for parents to attend. During a walk-in, the teacher, therapists and parents discuss the long term and short term goals set for the student. At times parents can also watch a class being conducted.
