CENTRE FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION (CSE)

CSE supports children within the age range of 6 - 18 years, who have mild to moderate learning difficulties. The students study in small group settings where the teacher-student ratio is 1:6 or 7. Within each group, the endeavour is to maintain a balance between age and cognitive level of functioning.

A skill based intervention aimed at independent living is the focus for all the students in CSE.

Integration Process

Once a student is observed to be academically functioning at par, in a particular subject with the relevant grade level, the subject/class teacher may recommend integration for that subject in that particular grade. The process will start only when the student has been seen to be behaviourally and emotionally comfortable in a class of 30 students.

A CSE student may be considered for partial integration in Middle/Senior School, if he/she has been following the mainstream curriculum in a subject and attempted all the Formative and Summative reviews with the required support/accommodations for at least 6 months.

The decision to integrate a child rests with the school.

Different types of integration:

  • Academic Integration

  • Reverse Integration

  • Social Integration

NIOS, a national curriculum offered by the National Institute of Open Schooling, is a distance learning programme catering to the needs of a heterogeneous group of learners up to pre-degree level. The school is not an NIOS centre. Parents who wish to register their child for NIOS will have to do so independently. The school will provide academic support to the child.
