In April 2025, Step By Step School, Noida, opened its doors to a dynamic exchange of ideas, voices, and actions as it hosted the Round Square Conference 2025. Themed around Seva—selfless service—the five-day conference was a vibrant confluence of young minds and compassionate hearts, united by a shared commitment to global citizenship and inclusive change.

With 122 student delegates from 17 schools, the event brought together a diverse community that engaged in meaningful dialogue, creative exploration, and collaborative service projects—all anchored in the core IDEALS of Round Square.

The conference began on 23rd April with an energetic round of icebreakers. A Zumba session and team-building games like Dragon’s Tail and Triangle Tag set the tone for a week that would be defined by connection and camaraderie. It was a joyful reminder that collaboration often begins with play, movement, and laughter.

The official inauguration on 24th April was marked by a powerful blend of music and message. A soul-stirring performance by the SBS choir and orchestra seamlessly fused Western and Indian classical music, symbolizing unity across cultures.

The welcome address highlighted the importance of inclusion, empathy, and the spirit of Seva. A moving Flag Parade followed, with each school proudly represented—visually reinforcing the message of unity in diversity. The ceremony closed with a student-led film capturing SBS’s service ethos, produced by the Technicolour Club.

Baraza: Where Thought Meets Purpose

At the heart of the conference were the three Baraza sessions—student-led forums designed for introspection, debate, and the co-creation of ideas.

  • Baraza 1 took inspiration from a keynote speaker who shared their journey of empathy-driven leadership and experiences working with communities in need.
  • Baraza 2 invited delegates to step out of the conference and into the community. Through immersive service experiences across Noida, students worked with diverse groups and social initiatives, learning firsthand what it means to serve with humility and purpose.
  • Baraza 3 featured a panel of changemakers who shared deeply personal stories of resilience, advocacy, and transformation, reinforcing that meaningful change often emerges from lived experiences and the courage to act.

Darpan: A Mirror of Compassionate Action

Throughout the week, the SEVA Exhibition ‘Darpan’ stood as a testament to the ongoing service initiatives at SBS. Showcasing student projects with transgender communities, neurodivergent individuals, and other marginalized groups, the exhibition sparked rich conversations around identity, advocacy, and belonging.

A Collective Realization

As the conference drew to a close, delegates collaborated on the Baraza Statement, a powerful reflection of shared purpose:

“Collectively, we have come to the realization that service could start with a small act that has the potential to compound into a larger community initiative. To make a meaningful impact, all we require is commitment and a recognition of our own responsibility as changemakers in society. In order to imbibe this vision, it is essential to maintain consistency, have selfless intentions, and most importantly, never give up.”

A Lasting Impact

The Round Square Conference 2025 was more than an event—it was a movement. Through dialogue, dance, service, and shared purpose, it reminded every delegate that leadership begins with listening and that Seva—in its truest form—is about showing up for others consistently and wholeheartedly.

As the delegates departed, they carried with them more than just memories. They left with a renewed sense of agency and a commitment to serve—a legacy that will echo far beyond the halls of SBS.
