Beginning 7th May, the Counselling Department will host a series of “Conversations over Coffee” sessions for parents as their children move from Middle to Senior school. These interactive forums are designed to offer a space for parents to come together, share perspectives, and discuss common concerns related to their child’s developmental and academic journey.

Each session is thoughtfully planned to address the unique challenges and milestones relevant to specific age groups—be it the transition into senior school, managing academic expectations, or supporting emotional well-being.

This initiative underscores our belief that a strong, ongoing partnership between the school and parent community is essential to fostering a nurturing and responsive learning environment.

Navrang 2025 – the Ritu Suri Memorial Inter-School Art Festival – is an event that aligns closely with the core values and ethos of Step By Step School, where inclusion is not an initiative but a guiding principle. Specially curated for students with special education needs, the festival offers a platform for creative expression that is accessible, respectful, and empowering.

This year’s theme, “Impressions of Imagination,” encourages students to explore and communicate their ideas through a variety of visual art forms. The festival aims to create an environment where creativity is not limited by convention, and where every student’s perspective is welcomed and appreciated.

Navrang goes beyond traditional competitions. It offers thoughtfully designed, engaging activities that promote collaboration, self-confidence, and joy in the creative process. By bringing together students from diverse learning backgrounds, it strengthens peer connections and fosters a sense of belonging.

Discover the Joy of Numbers – Math Workshop for Parents

We are excited to announce a Math Workshop for Nursery and Kindergarten parents on May 8th.

At this stage, children begin to explore numbers in fun and meaningful ways. This workshop will offer insights into how we introduce math concepts through interactive activities such as hopscotch, puzzles, and quizzes. Parents will experience firsthand how we encourage problem-solving, logical thinking, and number sense in young learners through engaging, age-appropriate methods.

The session will also highlight how math is naturally woven into daily life, helping children view it as fun, relatable, and approachable. This workshop will provide valuable tools for parents to support their child’s early learning journey at home, fostering a strong home-school connection and nurturing a lifelong love of learning.

To mark Labour Day on 1st of May, the SBS community will come together to honour and express gratitude for the quiet, unwavering efforts of our dedicated ‘didis’ and ‘bhaiyas’. Their dedication and unwavering support ensures the smooth functioning of our daily operations, from maintaining cleanliness to offering assistance with warmth and kindness. Beyond their roles, they weave a fabric of care and belongingness, making every individual feel valued and respected.

The Junior School will present a special assembly to acknowledge their commitment and care. These are the hands that provide us with warm meals, maintain our spaces with love, and support us in countless ways.

The Primary Graders will assist in decorating the dining hall with warmth and cheer, alongside their Junior Grade counterparts who will be serving meals with smiles. This celebration is a small yet meaningful gesture of gratitude for their hard work, kindness, and the essential role they play in our daily lives.

Step by Step School is honoured to host the Round Square Conference from 23rd to 27th April 2025, welcoming student and teacher delegates from Round Square member schools.

The theme, Seva– or Service – is a core Round Square Ideal and reflects our school’s vision. Derived from the Sanskrit words sah and eva, Seva means “together with” and signifies selfless service for others. It is not merely an act of charity but a recognition of our interconnectedness and a call to serve with humility, empathy, and sincerity.

Over five days, participants will engage in keynote sessions, panel discussions, and cultural activities centered on service. Baraza sessions will allow for personal reflection and exchange of ideas. Outreach programmes at nearby schools and community sites will offer participants authentic, hands-on service experiences.

Workshops and collaborative projects will provide platforms to explore solutions to societal challenges, inspiring a collective commitment to serve with purpose.

In recognition of Earth Day, our Middle School students will participate in an engaging and educational celebration on 22nd April 2025. As part of the science curriculum’s ecology block, students will transform their classrooms into thematic representations of various animal habitats, such as rainforests, coral reefs, and deserts.

This hands-on activity is designed to deepen students’ understanding of biodiversity and the intricate balance of ecosystems. It also encourages them to reflect on the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

By connecting classroom learning with real-world environmental themes, the Earth Day celebration aims to foster curiosity, awareness, and responsibility towards the planet.

On April 15, 2025, the Senior School will come together to entrust its newest student leaders with the responsibilities of the academic session 2025-26. The school auditorium will resonate with a sense of pride as the newly elected President and Vice President raise the school flags, pledging to uphold the values of integrity, responsibility and service. The Core Council—including the Sports Captain, House Captains and Vice-Captains, and various Coordinators—along with House Prefects and Class Representatives, will formally step into their leadership roles.

This time-honored tradition not only reinforces a culture of discipline and teamwork but also nurtures essential leadership skills that extend beyond the school years. By taking on these roles, students learn to lead by example, foster a spirit of collaboration, and contribute meaningfully to the school community—preparing them for future responsibilities in both academic and professional spheres.

This solemn occasion marks the beginning of their leadership journey, reinforcing the ethos of accountability and teamwork within the school community. Stay tuned for an inspiring ceremony that celebrates the spirit of student-led governance at SBS.

TOK Exhibition 2025: A Deep Dive into Knowledge

The upcoming Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition will be curated by the students of the IB Batch, marking the culmination of their year-long exploration of TOK—a core component of the IB Diploma Programme.

The exhibition will invite visitors to reflect on the fundamental question: How do we know what we know?

This exhibition serves as a platform for students to apply their critical thinking skills, demonstrating how TOK concepts manifest in the world around us. Students from Grades 9-12, along with senior school teachers, will have the opportunity to engage with these thought-provoking displays, fostering meaningful discussions on the nature and acquisition of knowledge.

The Middle School Annual Sports Day is scheduled to take place from 17th to 19th March 2025 at the school’s PE Field, bringing together students from grades 6 to 8.

The Middle School Annual Sports Day event will feature a range of track events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 100m hurdles, 4×100m mixed relay, and 4×100m relay race, alongside field events such as long jump, high jump, and shot put. Students will have the opportunity to test their strength, speed, agility, and endurance while engaging in healthy competition.

Beyond the accolades, the event emphasizes the importance of discipline, teamwork, and a healthy competitive spirit, inspiring students to develop a lifelong appreciation for sports and fitness. With a focus on resilience and sportsmanship, the Sports Day encourages students to challenge themselves, embrace teamwork, and build confidence in their abilities.

The TOK Film Festival is an enriching, day-long event designed for Grade 11 students of the IB Diploma Programme. This immersive experience introduces students to key concepts that will form the foundation of their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) studies in their second year.

Through the lens of cinema, students will engage in critical discussions that connect film to broader themes. After watching a thought-provoking movie, they will participate in an interactive session with an expert, analyzing the film’s deeper meaning, artistic choices, and its relevance.

This festival not only fosters critical thinking and analytical skills but also enhances students’ ability to evaluate perspectives and construct reasoned arguments.
