The Senior School Annual Sports Meet is around the corner, and preparations are in full swing. Scheduled for 25th July, the event brings together students from Grades 9 to 12 in a celebration of participation, perseverance, and house spirit.

The energy on campus is palpable as students gear up with great enthusiasm—eager to represent their houses, challenge themselves, and give their best on the field. From sprints and relays to jumps and throws, each event is a showcase of focus, grit, and commitment. More than just a competition, the Sports Meet is a platform for building character, teamwork, and resilience. As houses vie for the prestigious Overall Championship Trophy and individuals compete for the Best Athlete Awards, the school community comes together to applaud effort, encourage fair play, and honour every stride towards excellence.

The day stands as a quiet reminder of how sport can bring us together—fostering resilience, camaraderie, and the values we hold close as a school community. Celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship for our young athletes as they push boundaries and inspire us all!

Samvaad is a special initiative for Form VI students, designed to nurture open dialogue, self-awareness, and teamwork. Held over five days from 7th to 11th July, each of the five sections will participate on a separate day. Through engaging and reflective activities, students explore the values of cooperation, active listening, and respectful communication. The sessions encourage them to work together, strengthening team spirit and mutual understanding. A key outcome is the creation of their own ‘golden rules’—principles they wish to follow—and identifying the support they need from adults to uphold them. Samvaad is more than just a conversation; it is a meaningful step towards building confident individuals and a thoughtful, connected school community rooted in empathy and collaboration.

After a refreshing summer break, students will be welcomed back with a Fun Day on 3rd July 2025 —a special event planned by the SEN department for their students. The day is designed to ease the transition after a break by creating a joyful, inclusive, and supportive environment making them feel comfortable and confident as they return to campus.

A number of fun-filled activities have been planned, such as interactive games, music, and movement-based sessions—all thoughtfully curated to promote social interaction, emotional well-being, and a sense of belonging. These engaging experiences will help students reconnect with peers, express themselves, and gradually settle back into the school routine.

We look forward to seeing big smiles and hearing plenty of laughter!

Don’t forget to check the News Corner on the website for event highlights and beautiful moments captured after the celebration.

On 16th May 2025, we will host our much-loved SEN Summer Carnival. Designed as a joyful celebration of creativity and inclusion, the carnival brings together engaging experiences in a safe and welcoming space. From sensory play to imaginative storytelling and festive fun, every moment is planned with care and heart by our Special Education Needs Department (SEN).

The day will unfold through a beautiful blend of activities designed to delight and inspire. The Sensory Games Zone will offer soothing and stimulating experiences—from textured paths to music and water play—supporting individual sensory needs. In the Storytelling Corner, stories will come alive with expressive narration, puppetry, and student participation, sparking imagination and communication.

Children will also have the chance to slip into the shoes of their heroes at the Superhero Photo Booth, striking poses. At the Role Play Stations, they’ll explore real-world scenarios through pretend play, building social interaction and life skills in a setting full of joy and encouragement.

Stay tuned and don’t forget to drop by the News Corner soon—we’ll be sharing some joyful snapshots from the day!

Beginning 7th May, the Counselling Department will host a series of “Conversations over Coffee” sessions for parents as their children move from Middle to Senior school. These interactive forums are designed to offer a space for parents to come together, share perspectives, and discuss common concerns related to their child’s developmental and academic journey.

Each session is thoughtfully planned to address the unique challenges and milestones relevant to specific age groups—be it the transition into senior school, managing academic expectations, or supporting emotional well-being.

This initiative underscores our belief that a strong, ongoing partnership between the school and parent community is essential to fostering a nurturing and responsive learning environment.

Navrang 2025 – the Ritu Suri Memorial Inter-School Art Festival – is an event that aligns closely with the core values and ethos of Step By Step School, where inclusion is not an initiative but a guiding principle. Specially curated for students with special education needs, the festival offers a platform for creative expression that is accessible, respectful, and empowering.

This year’s theme, “Impressions of Imagination,” encourages students to explore and communicate their ideas through a variety of visual art forms. The festival aims to create an environment where creativity is not limited by convention, and where every student’s perspective is welcomed and appreciated.

Navrang goes beyond traditional competitions. It offers thoughtfully designed, engaging activities that promote collaboration, self-confidence, and joy in the creative process. By bringing together students from diverse learning backgrounds, it strengthens peer connections and fosters a sense of belonging.

Discover the Joy of Numbers – Math Workshop for Parents

We are excited to announce a Math Workshop for Nursery and Kindergarten parents on May 8th.

At this stage, children begin to explore numbers in fun and meaningful ways. This workshop will offer insights into how we introduce math concepts through interactive activities such as hopscotch, puzzles, and quizzes. Parents will experience firsthand how we encourage problem-solving, logical thinking, and number sense in young learners through engaging, age-appropriate methods.

The session will also highlight how math is naturally woven into daily life, helping children view it as fun, relatable, and approachable. This workshop will provide valuable tools for parents to support their child’s early learning journey at home, fostering a strong home-school connection and nurturing a lifelong love of learning.

To mark Labour Day on 1st of May, the SBS community will come together to honour and express gratitude for the quiet, unwavering efforts of our dedicated ‘didis’ and ‘bhaiyas’. Their dedication and unwavering support ensures the smooth functioning of our daily operations, from maintaining cleanliness to offering assistance with warmth and kindness. Beyond their roles, they weave a fabric of care and belongingness, making every individual feel valued and respected.

The Junior School will present a special assembly to acknowledge their commitment and care. These are the hands that provide us with warm meals, maintain our spaces with love, and support us in countless ways.

The Primary Graders will assist in decorating the dining hall with warmth and cheer, alongside their Junior Grade counterparts who will be serving meals with smiles. This celebration is a small yet meaningful gesture of gratitude for their hard work, kindness, and the essential role they play in our daily lives.

Step by Step School is honoured to host the Round Square Conference from 23rd to 27th April 2025, welcoming student and teacher delegates from Round Square member schools.

The theme, Seva– or Service – is a core Round Square Ideal and reflects our school’s vision. Derived from the Sanskrit words sah and eva, Seva means “together with” and signifies selfless service for others. It is not merely an act of charity but a recognition of our interconnectedness and a call to serve with humility, empathy, and sincerity.

Over five days, participants will engage in keynote sessions, panel discussions, and cultural activities centered on service. Baraza sessions will allow for personal reflection and exchange of ideas. Outreach programmes at nearby schools and community sites will offer participants authentic, hands-on service experiences.

Workshops and collaborative projects will provide platforms to explore solutions to societal challenges, inspiring a collective commitment to serve with purpose.

In recognition of Earth Day, our Middle School students will participate in an engaging and educational celebration on 22nd April 2025. As part of the science curriculum’s ecology block, students will transform their classrooms into thematic representations of various animal habitats, such as rainforests, coral reefs, and deserts.

This hands-on activity is designed to deepen students’ understanding of biodiversity and the intricate balance of ecosystems. It also encourages them to reflect on the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

By connecting classroom learning with real-world environmental themes, the Earth Day celebration aims to foster curiosity, awareness, and responsibility towards the planet.
